Anti-wrinkle facial oil: which one to choose and how to apply it correctly

One of the most valuable components of skin oils are lipids (fats). They glue horny cells (scales) together, creating a protective barrier that retains moisture. It also protects against the penetration of harmful microorganisms.

Applying it on the cover in its pure form, it seems to us that by doing so we strengthen this protective barrier, and the skin becomes saturated with moisture.

But the problem is that no vegetable oil contains an adequate lipid ratio for our dermis. When applied to the face, we immediately feel hydration and comfort as it smooths hot scales and softens. It also creates a film that retains moisture on the surface.

Destruction of the lipid barrier of the skin.

If we keep applying it regularly, it will start to penetrate deeper into the skin layer and erode our own lipids. Its ratio will begin to change, which will lead to the destruction of the lipid barrier. The skin will become even more dry and flaky.

Therefore, to strengthen the lipid layer it will be much more useful to consume fat inside.

But there are good news. Thanks to their moisturizing and emollient properties, vegetable fats are excellent for treating wrinkles if you do it wisely.

Anti-wrinkle facial oil

In combination with other components, they have a beneficial effect on the skin and smooth fine wrinkles. Therefore, it is even recommended for use in various mask recipes.

But to prevent the skin from getting used to it, the recipes must be constantly changed. But more on that below.

How to choose an anti-wrinkle facial oil instead of a cream

For the reasons stated above, it is not recommended to use it in its pure form on a regular basis, therefore it will not work to replace daily care with it in place of a cream as it can cause serious damage.

From wrinkles, for the purpose of additional moisturizing and smoothing, it is used in its pure form only in an emergency, a course for 1-2 weeks. This must be done respecting the following rules:

  • the face must be wet before application;
  • the number of drops according to your skin type: dry 3-4 drops, normal 2-3, oily 1-2;
  • after 15-20 minutes, dry the cover with a napkin, thereby removing its excess;
  • after use, be sure to apply a moisturizer;
  • Apply oil to the area around the eyes two hours before bed to avoid severe swelling.

An effective and safer way to use anti-wrinkle oil is to add a small number of drops to various masks, the recipes of which are given below. In combination with other components within 20 to 30 minutes, such formulations will only benefit, provided it is selected correctly (more on this later).

Anti-aging can be done 2-3 times a week. In addition, so that the skin does not get used to it, it is recommended to change the composition of the masks once a month.

Which cosmetic oil is best to use to maximize the effect on the face?

If you read the preface to this article carefully, you will have already concluded that, even in a minimal amount (1-2 drops), its regular use in its pure form can be harmful. And during the massage, it is not even a couple of drops, but a few ml, which you will rub well for 20-30 minutes several times a week.

Consequences for oily pores - clogged, increased sebum secretion, acne, even if it is not comedogenic.

Consequences for dryness: destruction of the lipid layer and, as a result, severe dryness and flaking.

The best fatty and essential oils for wrinkles

In the fight against wrinkles, both oily and essential oils are used. The features of your application will be discussed further.

Fatty

Each of them, depending on the composition, has its own comedogenicity - the ability to clog pores and cause inflammation, as well as cause swelling.

In total, three groups are distinguished: non-comedogenic (1), little comedogenic (2) and highly comedogenic (3). It is for this indicator that it is selected for your skin type. So, for the fatty type, the third group is contraindicated.

Fixed oils

Below is a list of fatty oils with an indication of the comedogenic group (in parentheses) that are suitable for working with wrinkles:

Liquid:

  • Sea buckthorn (1).
  • Peach (2).
  • Rosehip (1).
  • Almond (2).
  • Argan (1).
  • Grape seed (2).
  • Wheat germ (3).
  • Sesame (2).
  • Olive (2).

Solid (butters):

  • Shi - karite (1).
  • Coco (3).

The following group is suitable for wrinkles around the eyes:

Liquid:

  • Grape seed (2).
  • Avocado (2).
  • Rosehip (1).
  • Almond (2).
  • Hazelnut or walnut (2).
  • Jojoba (2).

Solid (butters):

  • Coco (3).
  • Cocoa (3).

It is also important to consider the method by which the oil is made. The most useful is cold pressing, which retains the maximum amount of nutrients.

But unnatural (mineral, petroleum jelly) it is better not to use at all. They are highly purified of petrochemicals and can block the normal functioning of the sebaceous glands, contributing to the development of acne.

Therefore, also pay attention to this factor and use only cold pressing.

How is highly comedogenic used?

It can be diluted with low comedogenic content (group 1) in a 1: 1 ratio. All fats go very well with each other and you can dilute any of them.

Essential

As you know, essential oils enhance the beneficial properties of fatty oils and it is not recommended to use them in their pure form either. Therefore, they are used in mixtures with the basic ones (fatty).

Essential oils

For rejuvenation, the following are recommended:

  • Pink: very well hydrates and eliminates fine wrinkles.
  • Lemon: known for its whitening and toning properties.
  • Patchouli: has a lifting effect.
  • Geranium: softens and makes elastic, suitable even for the most sensitive.
  • Frankincense: fights crow's feet well and is great for the eye area.

Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then blot with a tissue to remove any residue. Make sure to apply moisturizer.

But remember that you should use this method only in emergencies for a course of 1-2 weeks.

Compress under the eyes
